The Bone and Joint Institute is happy to announce an upcoming workshop in orthopaedic infection.
Infections are a potentially devastating complication of any orthopaedic surgery. Despite ongoing innovation in surgical techniques, there are no indications that the incidence of these infections will decline in the future. The substantial additional healthcare costs imposed by orthopaedic infections are predicted to increase in parallel with the demand for orthopaedic surgeries in support of our ageing and increasingly obese population.
The primary aim of this workshop is to identify Western University researchers who can contribute to a multidisciplinary team focused on addressing this major clinical problem.
