Workshop: Supercomputing facilities and training courses from Western and beyond

This fall, SHARCNET offers a non-credit training course “Introduction to advanced research computing”, covering topics essential to scientific computing, machine learning, data management and more. Interested individuals may check details at the SHARCNET’s training website https://training.sharcnet.ca/. In this workshop we will discuss how to access the compute and storage facilities and how to enroll in the fall training course.

This workshop is aimed at faculty, staff, graduate and senior undergraduate students and researchers who are new to Western and the national advanced research computing resources available across the country. Researchers from Western and across Canada can access supercomputers, clouds and data storage through SHARCNET (https://www.sharcnet.ca/) and Compute Canada Federation (https://www.computecanada.ca) at no cost. These compute and storage resources extend the capabilities of one’s personal computers and lab computers to suit research needs. SHARCNET provides personal support to assist researchers in using these resources too, and also offers various other training workshops and courses.
