The Department of Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies is happy to e-host Dr. Sami Schalk, delivering the inaugural lecture of 2022-23 Visiting Speakers Series.

Drawing from the book Black Disability Politics (Duke UP Fall 2022), this talk discusses the history of the National Black Women's Health Project in the 1980s and 1990s arguing that the organization's Black feminist health activism used holistic, culturally-attuned and politicized approaches to health which should be considered an example of Black disability politics."
