The Western Early Modern Society presents Vanessa Corredera

Vanessa I. Corredera is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of English at Andrews University.  Her scholarship examines the intersections between Shakespeare, race, and representation in popular culture, adaptations/appropriations, and performance, and has appeared in journals such as Literature Compass, Borrowers and Lenders: The Journal of Shakespeare and Appropriation, and Shakespeare Quarterly, as well as in a number of edited collections.  Her monograph, "Speak of me as I am": Othello in Post-racial America (Fall 2022) examines the ideological frames used to craft antiblack and antiracist Othellos during an era in which people were encouraged not to "see" race.
