Do Not Harm the Honeybee While Trying to Catch Killer Bees: Social Psychological Outcomes of Collective Punishment 

Various policies are being developed to weaken the hands of perpetrators at a time when intergroup conflicts are increasing around the world. In some cases, these policies target those who are not the perpetrators, and many people who are not responsible for the events are punished. In this case, how are the attitudes and behaviours of these non-perpetrators affected, both towards their ingroup and towards the punisher? This talk plans to put forward a preliminary theoretical model developed in the context of the social identity approach to seek the answer to this question.
