Biology Weekly Seminar - Hugh Broders
Room: 0153
Social and population biology of temperate bats
Despite their small size, bats have a potential life expectancy of decades, have low reproductive rates, are highly social and are active for only 30-40% of the year. Over the last couple of decades’, the Broders lab has been trying to better understand the causes of and consequences for the life history dynamics of this group. In this talk, Dr. Broders will highlight some of the major findings of his research and how things have changed in light of the introduction of the alien fungus Pseudogymnoascus destructans, which causes white-nose syndrome.
