Why are species where they are? The spatial ecology of communities, species and their phenotypes

The main goal of Dr. Peres-Neto's research is to determine how different factors such as phenotypic traits (morphology and behaviour), habitat preference, landscape structure and species interactions contribute to how regional pools of potential colonizer species are sorted into local communities.

His lab works on a combination of approaches including observational studies, experiments, data synthesis, theory and statistics to understand the relative roles of these factors in structuring ecological communities and their biodiversity.
