How a root becomes a shoot: molecular and cytological insights into organ development and identity
Our research group “Biology of the Cell and Regeneration” studies the mechanisms that control development in plant tissue cultures with the aim to identify the factors that promote - or impede - organogenesis and embryogenesis in the model species Arabidopsis thaliana and Brachypodium distachyon. Our goals are to understand how plant meristems are initiated but also to develop highly efficient methods for the genetic transformation and genome editing of crops.
