Missing Data, Mark-Recapture, and Markov chain Monte Carlo: Aspects of my work as an ecological statistician
Ecological data is messy and complex. Individuals from most species are difficult to distinguish from one another and hard to track over time. My research focuses on developing new statistical methodology, usually with a Bayesian twist, to answer questions about wildlife populations from data studies of marked individuals. Recent collaborations developing new methods to account for potential errors in identification that could lead to incorrect conclusions about the population of interest.
