Recombination rate influences adaptation speciation: Studies in the Drosophila pseudoobscura species group
The Noor laboratory examines how recombination rate variation using the Drosophila pseudoobscura species group affects the process of species formation (speciation) and patterns of molecular variation during adaptation. First, the results will be presented to assess whether, how, and how effectively recombinational effects from chromosomal inversions maintain the distinction of species that hybridize. Second, recombination rate is known to correlate with amount of sequence variation among individuals within many species, but how?
