The Gender Lady: The Fabulous Dr. May Cohen

London’s Forest City Film Festival has selected The Gender Lady: The Fabulous Dr. May Cohen as one of 8 films in its Documentary Features program. The film follows the life of an inspiring Canadian physician and trailblazer for women’s rights, from her childhood in a family with progressive values through her remarkable career which garnered many prestigious awards. Dr. Barbara Lent, Schulich Professor Emerita and former Associate Dean, Equity and Professionalism, and McMaster Professor Cheryl Levitt produced the film to celebrate Dr. Cohen’s 2016 induction into London-based Canadian Medical Hall of Fame. Of the 130 individuals inducted into the CMHF before Dr. Cohen, only 12 were women and only three were GPs/family physicians!
