Dr. Kityo is one of Western’s Spring 2025 honorary degree recipients, and we are privileged to welcome her as a guest speaker in our seminar series.

The RGE Murray Seminar Series is named in honour of Dr. Robert Murray (1919-2022), Professor Emeritus, for his many years of service to the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. Dr. Murray joined Western in 1945 and was the Head of the department from 1949 to 1974. Dr. Murray was a founder of the Canadian Society of Microbiologists, was the founding editor of the Canadian Journal of Microbiology, and was president of the American Society for Microbiology. In 1998, Dr. Murray was invested into the Order of Canada to acknowledge his many scientific accomplishments and contributions to the scientific community.
