Research Day is a forum for highlighting research conducted by healthcare professionals, scientists, students, patients, and families at PIR and affiliated research units working in areas of Cognitive Vitality and Brain Health, Mobility and Activity, and Mental Health.

The theme of the 2023 PIR Research Day is Trauma and Violence-Informed Approaches to Research and Practice.

The Keynote Speaker is Dr. Harry Zeit, an advocate for trauma-informed and humane medical and mental health care, who will speak on the topic of "Trauma-Informed Health Care Research and Clinician Self-Care in an Age of Upheaval."

The event will feature:

three concurrent workshops on trauma-informed approaches led by Dr. J. Don Richardson, Dr. Glorieuse Uwizeye, and Steven Slowka
40+ poster presentations from research across Parkwood Institute Research and Western University,
and a live discussion panel
