Dr. Chandy is being recruited to Western and has applied for a Robarts Scientist appointment Insulin resistance (IR) is central to the development of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, but it is often difficult to diagnose early. IR has both genetic and environmental components in some populations with a well-documented genetic contribution.

Dr. Chandy investigates the molecular phenotype of insulin-resistant and diabetic induced pluripotent stem cell-derived endothelial cells (iPSC-ECs), with an overarching goal of developing a risk score that predicts the risk of developing metabolic dysfunction. Dr. Chandy also examines iPSC-ECs from insulin-sensitive and insulin-resistant donors using transcriptomic and proteomic expression, endothelial cell phenotyping and nitric oxide production.
