“Abolishing Bail in Canada”

"The criminal justice system in Canada feeds itself. The worst manifestation of its circularity is the bail system. Eliminating bail as we know it would free up over half of the prison population, reduce wrongful guilty pleas, save billions, dramatically reduce the trial backlog, stop the practice of detaining people who are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, and wipe out one of the top crimes in Canada: bail breaches.”
