Western Early Modern Society - The Multiple Copies of Ralph Brooke's Catalogue (1619 and 1622)

It's a new year, and WEMS is back! For anyone new to Western, WEMS brings together people here at the university interested in research relating to early modern culture, history, and literature. There's usually a fair amount of book history and textual studies. Sometimes we host a visiting speaker; sometimes one of our own shares his or her work. We're mostly a nice crowd. Our first event this year will be SCOTT SCHOFIELD exploring what happens "When Readers Intervene".

Scott Schofield is Assistant Professor of English and Cultural Studies. His publications include articles and chapters on Shakespeare, Early modern reading practices and the Digital Book. In 2018 he will lead a seminar entitled Taking Notes In/On Shakespeare at the Shakespeare Association of America (SAA) in Los Angeles. Try to avoid rushing away at 4pm, as we'll be heading over to the Grad Club afterwards.
