Panel Discussion:
Responsible Robotics: Shaping a future with robots worth wanting

Join us for a panel discussion including Western alumna, Aimee van Wynsberghe (University of Twente), Christopher Schlachta (Schulich School of Medicine), Ryan Gariepy (Clearpath Robotics), and Jesse Kirkpatrick (Institute for Philosophy and Public Policy).

The robotics revolution will provide us with incredible benefits, relieving us from dull or dangerous activities, but will also introduce negative consequences that we must deal with. Consequences such as: how can we ensure that the robot is safe and secure, or how will the robot protect our privacy when we interact with it? The field of responsible robotics aims to address these questions by bringing together robot ethicists, policy makers, and industry leaders to brainstorm about the kind of regulation needed to protect consumers without stifling innovation.

This is the first event of a three-part series on robotics we are hosting from March 15-17. See full abstract, further event details, and register to attend on our event page. page.
