Talk Title: “Natural killer cells as regulators of pulmonary vascular remodeling in development and disease”
Bio: Dr. Maria Vera Ugalde, originally from Spain, holds a BS in Biology and a Ph.D. in Cell Biology from the University of Navarra. During her Ph.D., she focused on engineering gene therapy vectors for liver cirrhosis and colon cancer treatment. Interested in gene expression regulation and cell survival mechanisms, she pursued a postdoc at NYU, investigating heat shock protein regulation. Her research continued at Dr. Robert Singer’s lab, where she developed innovative methods for visualizing mRNA molecules. Maria established her lab at McGill University in 2019, studying mRNA life cycles and their role in age-related neurodegeneration.
