Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble Concert: Real or Imagined?

This joint concert with the Western University Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band pays homage to music and composers from the medieval through contemporary eras. The concert opens with English Folk Song Suite by Ralph Vaughan Williams, followed by Swiftriver Passage by Paul Suchan, Rock Bottom by award-winning composer Derek Jenkins, Adam Gorb's Eine Kleine Yiddishe Ragmusik, and closes with Homage to Perotin: the second movement of Ron Nelson's Medieval Suite.

More planned program includes Elfin Thunderbolt by Barbara Galbraith; Song for Silent Voices by Wayne Oquin; La Procession Du Rocio by Joaquin Turina arr. Reed; Instinctive Travels by Michael Markowski; plus repertoire featuring the 2023 Winds, Brass and Percussion Student Concerto Competition winner Isaac Lee, percussion, performing the first movement of Creston’s Concertino for Marimba and Band.
