Abstract:
In 2024, FIMS Professor Pam McKenzie was awarded a Western Teaching Fellowship for her project, Implementing UDL for IDEA in Blended Learning for the MLIS. This seminar presentation gives a short overview of the Master of Library and Information Sciences (MLIS) course redesign occurring as part of this Fellowship and introduces three interrelated Scholarship of Teaching and Learning research projects: an MLIS student pedagogical partnership to evaluate the course changes, a knowledge synthesis, and an autoethnographic teaching reflection. The MLIS student pedagogical partnership team (Valerie, Michelle, Nancy, Erin, Court, Meghan, and Jordan) will present their ongoing evaluation around three themes: 1) the role of Communities of Practice in addressing student-identified barriers to learning; 2) effectiveness of student self-reflections on metacognitive learning, and 3) how faculty can use digital technology to support accessible and inclusive learning. Lola and Pam will present their ongoing work on a knowledge synthesis and autoethnographic reflection.
