In November 2024, explore the rich culture of scenic South India. Learn more about this trip during a webinar with Meera Kachroo – Adjunct Professor at the University of Saskatchewan’s St. More College. Meera will highlight the distinctive religious, literary, and cultural practices associated with the grand temple dedicated to goddess Meenakshi in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. This temple is an iconic and storied hub of religious, historical, and cultural life, honouring the “goddess whose eyes dart like fish.” Her worship — and the poetic stories about her youth, courtship, and marriage — show the intertwining of politics, royalty, and religion over centuries of rule under successive Hindu kingdoms.
