Are People Still Moving for Money?: Insights from Canadian Administrative Data

Michael Haan, Associate Professor

1:30 PM
SSC 5220

Michael Haan is Canada Research Chair in Migration and Ethnic Relations and
Co-Director, Statistics Canada Research Data Centre at Western.  In this research he uses matched employer-employee data to measure changes in the ‘mover’s premium’, or the net economic benefits to geographical mobility, over time.  We also assess the extent to which the declines in interprovincial mobility stems from shifts in job-changing behaviour.
