The Africa Institute would like to invite Western Graduate Students to a Welcome Reception and Feature Presentation of “The Promised Land”

Friday September 29th

Time: 3:30 – 6:00 p.m. at the David S. Chu Centre, Location: 2nd Floor,

International Graduate Affairs Building

The Promised Land is a short 1 hour film, produced by Yoba for Life and Dr. Gregor Reid as part of a “Fermented Food for Life” project which has inspired men and women in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania to produce nutritious probiotic yogurt for their communities. In doing so these men and women are establishing small social enterprises around healthy food.

We welcome you to mingle over coffee, tea, and popcorn with a group of like-minded students, coming from across the whole of Western’s campus.

The Africa Institute is an interdisciplinary entity with the participation of many faculty members, staff and students from across campus. Its members are building sustainable collaborations and partnerships with Africans to foster initiatives that address some of the most pressing issues facing the African continent. The Africa Institute also coordinates several academic programs, notably the MMASc and the Collaborative Graduate Program in Global Health Systems in Africa.

We invite all Graduate students researching, studying, or interested in topics on the African Continent to join us at this event, for an opportunity to meet your fellow colleagues at Western and interact with Faculty members of the Africa Institute. There will also be an introductory speech by Dr. Nicole Haggerty, Acting Director of the Africa Institute.
