Humans are social animals. Although no two interactions are identical, we appear to be masters of conversation. How do we manage the ever-changing demands of social environments? What clues help us anticipate conversation partner behaviour? How do biases shape social outcomes? This talk explores the science of human social connections.
Dr Erin Heerey’s research focuses on the scientific study of face-to-face social behaviour. Her work explores how people read and evaluate different types of social cues, use these cues to predict social partners’ behaviour, and how different types of cues drive decision-making in cooperative and competitive environments.
