Teaching in a Clinical Setting

Friday, December 13, 2019
9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Health Sciences Addition (HSA)
Room: 022

Teaching in a clinical setting is often demanding and complex. A clinical teacher often has to take on many roles simultaneously, acting as a teacher, medical expert, and leader. This course, facilitated by Dr. Josee Paradis, is based on Stanford Medicine's Clinical Teaching Program.

The course is designed to: enhance participants' versatility as teachers; enhance their ability to analyze clinical teaching using an educational framework; and, provide a forum for collegial exchange. The workshop focuses on the topics of learning climate, assessment, and feedback in a clinical setting.

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Reflect on their own teaching and learning strategies
  • Analyze clinical teaching and learning in their practice environment
  • Apply teaching behaviours that support learner development in a clinical setting
