PROGRAM OUTLINE
Historically, the goal of periodontal surgery was to arrest disease progression. Today, the ideal treatment outcome of periodontal surgery is to regenerate the supporting structures of the teeth through guided tissue regeneration. With the increasing prevalence of perio-implantitis, guided tissue regeneration principles are also being used to treat peri-implant disease. This lecture will review basic principles of periodontal guided tissue regeneration, including an overview of techniques and materials for both tooth and implant applications.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
To understand the most current evidence-based treatment recommendations for guided tissue regeneration.
To learn the emerging techniques and translational research to support new developments in the field.
