Title: "Topological quantum field theory".

Abstract: The subject of topological field theory was introduced by Witten in 1988 based on works of Donaldson on invariants of 4-manifolds.

Soon after, Atiyah and Segal managed to give a mathematical formulation of the concept.

My aim in this talk is to explore variant basic aspects of this theory leaning towards the functorial formulation.

After discussing some motivation from Feynman path integrals, we go over Atiyah’s formulation. Then, we focus on the two dimensional case that is related to Frobenius algebras. If time permits, I give a simple example of a gauge field theory with finite gauge group.

Hope to see you,
Best,
