Title: Equivariant cohomology for 2-torus and torus actions with compatible involutions

Abstract: Algebraic properties of the equivariant cohomology for compact connected Lie groups (as a module over the cohomology of the classifying space) are determined by restriction to torus actions when cohomology with real coefficients are considered. In this talk, we will discuss a similar reduction when cohomology with coefficients in a field of characteristic two is considered. It turns out that for several group actions, one can approach the equivariant cohomology by restriction to elementary abelian 2-groups (or 2-torus). An interesting application of this reduction generalizes  the equivariant formality for Hamiltonian torus actions and compatible involutions on symplectic manifolds into a topological setting.
