TITLE:
Statistical Issues in Administrative Data Analysis
SPEAKER:
X. Joan Hu, Simon Fraser University
ABSTRACT:
Many administrative databases are organized according to a calendar time window for a particular population; therefore, so are most of the data extracted from the databases for studies with research purposes. The information on an individual is thus available typically within an individual-specific time window with certain constraints imposed to such a research study. This talk will showcase two research programs based on Canadian health administrative databases: the Cancer Survivorship Research Program at BC Cancer Agency and the Pediatric Mental Health Care Program at University of Alberta. We formulate challenges arising from the programs and present proposed strategies, with particular attention to selection bias when multiple events are of the primary interest.
