Title: Modeling Complexity in the Microcirculation: Approaches at Multiple Scales
Abstract: This discussion will focus on the experimental, imaging and computational approaches being used by the Cardiovascular Research Laboratories within the Department of Medical Biophysics to better understand how the microcirculation controls flow and resistance at two levels of resolution. Specifically, how does the microvascular network itself respond to stimuli and challenge, but also how do individual arterioles integrate the myriad signals they receive to determine an appropriate outcome given system constraints. A goal of this discussion is to identify, develop and strengthen collaborative opportunities for faculty and students between our Departments.
