Title: 150 Years (and More) of Data Analysis in Canada
Abstract: Canadians have been collecting data and carrying out analyses on the resulting statistics before Canada officially became a nation. From before confederation to our centennial we were mostly followers; the techniques and ideas of data analysis were developed by others elsewhere and we followed in their footsteps. In the last 50 years many Canadians have become leaders in the field. Some have left Canada, but many have stayed.
This talk celebrates the progress Canadians have made in the field of data analysis from the Victorian statistics movement of the 1830s to the modern computer revolution.
