Art Song Collaborative Project presents: Coming Home

Sunday, July 15, 2018
2:00 pm
Music Building (MB)
Room: von Kuster Hall

Coming Home, an International Opera Through Art Song is bringing to life the (im)migrant, refugee and asylum seeker experience for the summer of 2018 in collaboration with 15 composers and 6 performers.

Follow Ann, a recent widow and her young daughter Lili faced with the predicament of either remaining behind in their patriarchal homeland, or treading unknown roads in search for new beginnings and opportunities.
She decides to pack light and take her daughter away into a safer future.
Throughout their journey they entice us to contemplate the meaning of Home: Is it the country they left because it was unsafe? The trinkets they took, memories of a past life as they relentlessly journey? The new land they found where they have lived a safe and normal life?
What if their hearts still yearn for that familiar language, that homely taste, those friendly and loving faces.
