Canada 150 Composers Premiere Concert and Art Installation

Canada 150 - artwork and compositions premiere

As part of Canada 150 and Western's International Week celebrations, five six-minute works written by Don Wright Faculty of Music PhD student composers are premiered. The following Music PhD composers will premiere new works:

Matthew David Becker – Excursions sur un rêve
Aaron Lee – The Blind Caravan
Jeff Lupker – Katajjaq Impressions
Andrew Noseworthy – One Stalk, One Arrow, No Stalk, No Arrow
Edgar Suski – Polaris-Nocturne

Anita Krause, mezzo-soprano
Anne Thompson, flute
Marie Johnson, clarinet
Erika Raum, violin
Adrian Wright, cello
Angela Park, piano
with Sophie Louise Roland, Chair, Music Performance Studies singing O Canada

Event also features unveiling of a Canada 150 commissioned art piece by Fine Arts Master's student Paul Chartrand on the theme of "150 Years of Canada in the World." To learn more about the art competition, visit or contact event organizer Stephanie Livingstone, Western International.

This special Canada 150 event is a collaboration between the Don Wright Faculty of Music's Music Research and Composition Department, the McIntosh Gallery, Western International and the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, and is generously supported by Western's Canada 150 fund.
