CRA Student Program Information Session

Tuesday, January 26, 2021
4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Have you considered a career in the public service?

Join the Indigenous Student Centre and the Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) for a virtual discussion to learn about upcoming employment opportunities for Indigenous students and future graduates. We will show you how to apply for a job and share how the CRA creates a supportive and inclusive work environment where Indigenous employees thrive. Did you know that as a new student at the CRA, you will be greeted by a fellow Indigenous colleague and can take part in an Indigenous Employee Network? The CRA Outreach team will also discuss the benefits and credits available to students through income tax filing and how you can volunteer to prepare tax returns in your community.

The session will also include a Q & A with Kia Peters, fourth year Western Honours Nutrition and Dietetics student who was hired by the CRA last year.
“My journey with the CRA started at the CRA Career Day on October 1, 2019. I’ve always been interested in working in the government in some capacity as an Indigenous person, but never considered the CRA prior to seeing promotions for CRA Career Day. I attended the CRA lunch at the Indigenous Services Centre and was able to ask questions and share my interests with the CRA team. They took time to listen to my experiences and interests. The CRA team was able to identify a position that would provide me with experience that would be meaningful to me.  That same day, I was interviewed for the position and received an offer of employment – I remember being so excited! Despite the COVID pandemic, my student contract was honored and I began working in May 2020.” – Kia Peters
