Orange Shirt Day

Date:
Wednesday, September 30, 2020
Cost:
Free

Orange Shirt Day recognizes and honours the 150 000 Indigenous children who attended the nearly 150 Indian Residential Schools operating in Canada for over almost 150 years. This year, Orange Shirt Day is happening as a virtual campaign beginning September 23 and ending on Orange Shirt Day, September 30th.

The Orange Shirt Campaign through Instagram and Facebook aims to educate, create awareness and provide resources and actionable items for the viewers to consider and learn from about the Canadian Indian Residential School System and reconciliation.

The Indigenous Student Centre and Office of Indigenous Initiatives are asking viewers to engage with the campaign by purchasing an Orange Shirt, available at The Book Store at Western, take a selfie and use the hashtag #turnwesternorange. Dont forget to tag the Indigenous Student Centre @westernnu_indigenous

Orange Shirts are $24.95 and will be sold exclusively at The Bookstore at Western, available online as well as in-store. The shirts are available in sizes small to XXXL and $6 from every shirt sold will go back to the Orange Shirt Fund. The shirts have been ordered from
