Abstract: Pharmaceutical artificial intelligence (AI) technologies can identify optimal drug dosing to evergreen a drug. In this case, AI can identify, predict, and test drugs to improve a drug's therapeutic profile and profitability, benefiting pharmaceutical companies. While studies have explored pharmaceutical AI technologies that can enhance evergreening, studies on the effects of strengthening evergreening for public health are unexplored. This integrative review (IR) will explore pharmaceutical AI by examining intellectual property rights (IPRs) and the effect this has on public health and safety. The integrative review will use the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA-P) guide to search and screen bibliographical databases and grey literature on pharmaceutical AI research about evergreening and the effect evergreening has on public health and safety. The limitations will be time and language. Authors of included articles will be hand-searched and tracked from citations. Two reviewers will independently critically appraise the studies following the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT). Additionally, two reviewers will independently extract the data for analysis. The integrative review will use a data-based convergent synthesis design to report the findings for a thematic analysis.
