"Debt, Austerity, and the Media: Oligarchic Information Power and Public Opinion in Contemporary Greece"

Presented by Dimitri Lascaris.

Everyone is welcome to attend this talk.

Dimitri Lascaris is a lawyer, journalist, and activist. For the last ten years, Dimitri has been reporting on economic, political, and environmental matters in North America and Europe. His coverage of Greece, especially since the rise of the left-wing SYRIZA party, integrates rigorous analysis of European financial and policy developments with “on-the-ground” (and on location) accounts of the experiences and prospects of Greek people. Dimitri’s Canadian reporting centrally concerns environmental and political-economic matters. In 2012, Canadian Lawyer Magazine named him one of the 25 most influential lawyers in Canada, and in 2013, he was named by Canadian Business Magazine as one of the 50 most influential persons in Canadian business. Dimitri ran as a Green Party candidate in Canada’s 2015 federal election and has served as the Justice Critic in the Green Party of Canada’s shadow cabinet.
