Abstract:
From the surveillance revelations of Edward Snowden to the alleged Russian hacking of the US election, and from the Pentagon’s digital attacks on Iranian nuclear reactors to the electronic battle fields of Syria and Ukraine, recent news has been full of stories of “cyberwar.” This talk discusses the realities and myths of cyber-war, the difficulties of thinking about it, its implications for a networked world order and the problems it presents to contemporary social movements.
