Innovation Ambassadors: Innovation Ecosystem Canada
The Innovation Ambassadors speaker series provides an opportunity to see what research and innovations are coming from various areas of the university. See what your colleagues are working on and how you can engage in the innovation ecosystem here at Western and in the local community.
The speaker series will feature faculty members from across campus and special guest panelists from industry.
This month's speakers are:
Jeff Van Heumen
Jeff is a trained polymer chemist with a PhD specialization in polyurethane chemistry. During his career, Jeff has held several R&D-related positions in the automotive industry. From his PhD and R&D roles, he has five patents and over 15 publications. Later, Jeff was a research consultant in the public accounting sector. In a subsequent role, Jeff provided CFO and VP product support for a small, private, Waterloo-based non-destructive testing company that was later acquired. Jeff is currently the Director of Business Development for Ontario Centre of Innovation supporting the pan-provincial business development network while continuing to provide business development support the London and surrounding region.
Joel Adams
Joel teaches courses in New Venture Creation and has taught on entrepreneurship as well, sharing his experience and expertise as an entrepreneur, engineering executive, and educator. Joel is a Founding Partner of Hacker Studios, a privately funded startup incubator in London, Ontario and is also a Senior Innovation Advisor at Innovation Canada.
