Title: “STEM Education: Beyond the Acronym“

Lyn English is a Professor of STEM and Mathematics Education at the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia. Lyn is a Fellow in STEM Education of The Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia, and is founding editor (1997) of the international journal, Mathematical Thinking and Learning (Taylor & Francis).  Her areas of research, spanning K-8, include mathematics education, STEM education, engineering in the elementary and middle schools, mathematical modeling, problem solving and reasoning, statistics education, and early mathematics learning. Professor English was awarded the Mathematics Education Research Group of Australasia Career Research Medal, 2012, and the Vice Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Research in 2015. She is a Senior Research Scientist (Adjunct) of the Kaput Center for Research and Innovation in STEM Education at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth.
