“What we deserve”: A panel and powerful film on reparations

Join us for a viewing of a 45-minute documentary that examines over 400 years of the trans-Atlantic slave trade. Shelley Jarrett is the executive producer and director of WHAT WE DESERVE, which won its 3rd award, Best Documentary (Canada), at the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival in September 2023. Her debut documentary W’AT ABOWT US has also won three awards since it first premiered in Toronto in 2019. Shelley is a magazine publisher, a multi-award-winning entrepreneur, podcaster and a highly respected women’s advocate. She is a spokesperson and part of the RPA Women Entrepreneur Award Committee. She is advisory to the Canadian Centre for Women Empowerment in Ottawa. She is a past Board member of the Art Gallery of Mississauga and was named one of the 100 Accomplished Black Canadian Women in 2022. In all things, whether in the arts or business community, Shelley strives to be a positive force for women.
