Join us on October 23, 2020 for the annual Murray L. Barr Lecture with guest speaker and 2020 Gairdner Award Recipient, Dr. Elaine Fuchs.

Elaine Fuchs is an HHMI Investigator and Lancefield Professor of Mammalian Cell Biology and Development at the Rockefeller University. She is renowned for her research in skin biology, its stem cells and associated genetic disorders, particularly cancers. Her awards and honors include the National Medal of Science, the Gairdner International Award, the L’Oreal-UNESCO Award for women in science, the Albany Prize in Medicine, the March of Dimes Prize in Developmental Biology, the EB Wilson Award in Cell Biology, the Vanderbilt Prize for science and for mentoring women scientists, the McEwen Award for Innovation in Stem Cell Research, the Pezcoller and AACR Clowes Awards for Cancer Research, and in 2020, the Gairdner Award for her research on tissue stem cells and how they function in normal homeostasis, wound repair, inflammation and malignancies. Fuchs is an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences, Royal Society, National Academy of Medicine, American Philosophical Society and European Molecular Biology Organization and the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and she also holds honorary doctorates from NYU School of Medicine, University of Illinois, Albany Medical College and Harvard University.
